A state-of-the-art environmental education experience to 4th-8th grade students throughout San Diego County. DEF operates from the 6,000 square foot EcoCenter that contains a theater and exhibit hall. The EcoCenter provides an unforgettable environmental field trip experience to about 26,000 middle school students each year. The San Diego EcoCenter for Alternative Fuel Education presents tours of gasoline alternatives including Ethanol – Alcohol & Corn; Bio-Diesel – French fry grease; Compressed Natural Gas – fossil fuel, like the gas used in your stove at home; Electricity- electricity from power plants; Propane – fossil fuel, made from petroleum refining process; and Hydrogen – Water & Oxygen.
